Bartack Buttonhole for Light to Medium Weight Fabrics
The Bartack Buttonhole is the most common style of buttonhole. This narrow version of the buttonhole is good for light to medium weight fabrics because the cutting space is narrower than that of the Wide Bartack Buttonhole. It accommodates the buttons used for shirts, dresses, and similar garments in light to medium weight fabric. Use a fabric stabilizer underneath to help prevent the dense stitches of the buttonhole from puckering the fabric. Adjust stitch length and stitch width as desired for the thread you are using, as well as, the look you want for your project.
