Festive Tree Fireplace Garland By Bethany McCue
DIY garlands are on trend right now so why not make your own? This fireplace garland project is great for beginners, including kids, so get the whole family involved! Customize your fabric and embellishment choices to fit your holiday decor style and add some festive flare.
o Tree pattern included with this project (last page). You can adjust the print size if you wish to make your trees bigger or smaller in size.
o A 16”x9” cut of fabric will make the front and back of 1 tree. You can make as many trees as you would like for the fullness and length of your garland.
o Recommend using 3-5 different fabric prints to create a festive look. Recommend cotton fabric for easy sewing but you can also use burlaps, corduroy, velvet, etc.
o 1/2 yard batting. A 8”x9” cut of fabric will make a single tree for the middle layer. You might need more than ½ yard of batting if you plan to make more than 10 trees for your garland.
o Ribbon (measure the length of your fireplace mantel and add 2 feet for draping)
o Buttons or Bells (optional embellishment for each tree you make)
o All purpose Sewing Thread (this can match or contrast to your fabric)
o 90/14 Universal Sewing Machine needle
o Straight pins
o Marking Pen
o Fabric scissors and/or rotary cutter and mat
o Pinking Shears (optional)
