Sew Newsworthy Sewing 101 Inspiration
Support Your Local Community!

Update 3/31/2020
During this time of uncertainty, it can be therapeutic to keep busy and participate in activities that contribute to the greater good. As many of you know, COVID-19 has created an extreme shortage of medical supplies including masks. Hundreds of SINGER® sewing machines have been donated to hospitals and organizations globally to help make gowns, masks and replenish other missing supplies, and now you can help out too!
Although homemade masks may not provide the same level of protection as the N95 medical masks, many hospitals and medical groups have called on their local communities to join them in sewing homemade masks and mask covers. We encourage you to join in on this initiative and contact your local hospitals to coordinate supply efforts.
To help you get started, check out the below hospital recommended templates and video tutorials of the best DIY masks:

Starting Monday, March 23rd, JOANN is opening their classrooms (subject to following the social distancing rules) to anyone who wants to come into the JOANN location to make face masks and covers, gowns, and other items to donate to local hospitals. JOANN will provide and donate 100% of the supplies needed for these critical items.
Thank you to everyone who is donating time and resources to this very important initiative.
